Donation now finalised: flexword is to donate € 9000 to the victims of Hurricane Irma in Cuba
London, Mannheim (Germany) (PRWEB UK) 25 November 2017 -- Last month the international language service provider flexword announced that it would be donating a percentage of its turnover from October to help the victims of hurricane Irma in Cuba. This figure has now been finalised and the company, with its headquarters in Mannheim, Germany and further sites in the USA, Great Britain and Serbia, is pleased to announce that a total of € 9000 will be donated. "We are not only proud of the amount raised, but are also delighted to have found an organisation where we are certain that the money will be invested responsibly and will reach those affected," stressed Werner Arnautović, Head of Strategic Business Management at flexword Translators & Consultants.
For the company it is particularly important that the donation is used in the best possible way to help those in need. That is why, following extensive research and careful consideration, flexword Translators & Consultants has chosen to donate the funds to the organisation Caritas Switzerland. "My entire family lives in Baracoa in the north east of Cuba, a region which felt the full force of hurricane Matthew just one and a half years ago," explained Yisel, an employee at flexword USA. "My 91-year-old grandfather's house, which is also home to my mother, was badly hit by a hurricane last year. Caritas was the only organisation present on site and provided sufficient materials to the population to enable them to repair the damage caused. As such, my grandfather and mother thankfully had a roof over their heads again not long afterwards," continued Yisel. Caritas Switzerland works closely with its local partner, Caritas Cuba to supply the population with basic foodstuffs, clean water, soap, matches, candles and tools to rebuild the houses destroyed. The organisation procures its relief supplies from the regions which were not so badly hit by the hurricane. Thanks to the effective preventative measures, which were organised in advance, it was possible to distribute hot meals to those in the poorest areas of the worst affected regions just one day after the hurricane hit. At present, Caritas Switzerland is providing on-site emergency relief in 13 of the 15 affected provinces in Cuba and hopes in the near future to establish longer-term rehabilitation projects to accompany the measures already in place.
