Debra McDonald’s new book “Carried” is a biographical tale of unspeakable crime and a mother’s commendable bravery in thwarting the eminent attack on her family’s lives
(PRWEB) November 27, 2017 -- Debra McDonald, a graduate of Lock Haven University, Shippensburg University, and University of Pennsylvania, a retired educator of high school health and physical education, as well as a middle school assistant principal and elementary principal in the East Pennsboro Area School District from 1974 to 2010, has completed her new book “Carried”: a dark and spine-chilling true-to-life crime story that took place inside a family’s own residence during April 18, 1996, and how the horrible attack left a stigma on the victims.
Author McDonald evokes a fearsome reality that anyone can fall prey to crime when one least expects it: “She had to get to her dresser. She had to get a light on. She didn’t want to see the huge monster in her hallway waiting to attack her, but she couldn’t stand the fear of being attacked in the dark. Just three quick, cautious steps toward the dresser were all it took. Three silent, blind steps and she was there. Never taking her eyes off the black doorway, she was there. And her Braille method of finding the button on her antique hurricane lamp worked, unlike in so many horror movies. She relived where the woman got to the door, or the latch, but could not get it open in time to escape her oncoming attacker.”
Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Debra McDonald’s compelling account also tackles sensitive topics such as fear, pain, anger, and trauma, as well as the complex technicalities of courtroom drama. Though this book delves into the devastating effects of crimes, “Carried” hopes to inspire the readers to be resilient and courageous in times of unexpected and overwhelming events.
Readers who wish to experience this riveting work can purchase “Carried” at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play, Kobo, or Barnes and Noble.
