CloudRanger, the simple backup solution for Amazon Web Services (AWS), today announced it has joined the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Public Sector Partner Program. As a Public Sector Partner, CloudRanger has demonstrated not only a strong overall AWS practice, but has proven its experience and proficiency in supporting government and education organizations.
“Government and education organizations face a unique set of challenges, often working with limited resources to carry out complex tasks, so many turn to AWS for its simplicity as well as power and speed to better serve their constituents,” said David Gildea, CloudRanger CEO. “CloudRanger’s inclusion in the AWS Public Sector Partner Program allows organizations to easily and efficiently enable CloudRanger’s platform through their AWS account, enhancing the organization’s data security, while providing additional peace of mind that the platform has been wholly vetted and endorsed by AWS.”
Public Sector customers will have access to CloudRanger SaaS-based platform, directly via the AWS Partner Network. The platform offers a simple AWS cloud management system for scheduling critical, repetitive tasks such as data backup and server scheduling, and does so without the need for in-house coding – ultimately saving both time and money, while providing improved data security.
In tandem with achieving the new AWS certifications, CloudRanger has introduced Automated Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) Snapshots, enabling organizations to more simply create a backup of volumes, even when they are in use, by quickly freezing the volume and briefly suspending the write operation, buffering any new data so it can be added after the backup is completed. This ensures key data is securely backed up, even if in use during a backup. CloudRanger’s new feature allows users to select a checkbox to utilize Automated VSS Snapshots as part of the backup process without any need for scripting.
“Creating snapshots has long been a challenge for all organizations, but particularly for those in government or education, due to the sensitivity of the data. If an instance was in use while a backup occurred, it could potentially have inconsistent data, but VSS helps solve this problem,” said David Gildea, CloudRanger CEO. “What has historically been a difficult and tedious process, is now boiled down to simply checking a box, and worrying about missed data during backups becomes a thing of the past.”
