Webinar Sponsored by Thermo Fisher Scientific Will Address A Complete Workflow for Human Cell Line Authentication
YORBA LINDA, Calif. (PRWEB) November 29, 2017 -- The misidentification of cell lines commonly used in human disease research is a large and growing problem. In this webinar, sponsored by Thermo Fisher Scientific, an overview and discussion of a complete workflow for human Cell Line Authentication will be presented. Applied Biosystem’s AmpFlSTR Identifiler STR analysis kits, gold-standard CE instrumentation and Gene Mapper analysis software were designed to work together to provide a complete solution for unambiguous authentication of cell lines. Application of this solution to stem cell research will also be discussed.
Dr. Steve Jackson, a product applications scientist with Thermo Fisher Scientific will be the speaker for this event. As an industry veteran with more than 10 years of experience, Jackson serves as a senior member of the genetic analysis R&D team at Thermo Fisher Scientific, helping to develop solutions for the research and healthcare markets, leveraging varied technologies such as capillary electrophoresis, digital PCR, next-generation sequencing, and microarray analysis.
This is the fifth topic in the webinar series on ‘Sanger Sequencing & Fragment Analysis made easy.’ The study of human development and diseases relies heavily on the analysis of dissociated human cell lines grown in culture. However, an increasingly acknowledged problem is that cells grown in vitro can become misidentified or contaminated with other unrelated cell lines. Analysis of highly variable short tandem repeats (STRs), provides a simple, inexpensive and highly specific genetic “fingerprint” of a cell line.
LabRoots will host the webinar December 6, 2017, beginning at 8:00 a.m. PST, 5:00 p.m. CET. To learn more about this event, the other webinars in this series, or to register for free, click here.
