New Children’s Book Introduces Kids to Life with Allergies
GREENVILLE, S.C. (PRWEB) December 04, 2017 -- As many as 30 percent of adults and 40 percent of children in the United States suffer from allergies, according to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. Donna Webber’s eight-year old daughter, Reagan is one of the individuals. Together, the Webber women share how to have voyages while living with chronic immune system hypersensitivity in “The Allergy Adventures with Cari the Cupcake.”
In their book, Donna and Reagan chronicle the life of Cari, a cupcake who was made without nuts, eggs or dairy. Cari undertakes a quest to rescue her friends, but needs to be careful not to irritate her allergies along the way. Full of colorful illustrations, the narrative will entertain children of all ages.
“Reagan was diagnosed with severe nut and dairy allergies at the age of two,” Donna Webber said. “As a parent, I had to learn how to adapt our lifestyle to fit her needs. One of the things we needed to teach Reagan was that she wasn’t inferior just because she had to tailor her dietary needs. The Allergy Adventures with Cari the Cupcake shares that lesson with other children.”
