“I’ve always been lucky enough to have a roof over my head and food on my table. I feel it is my obligation to reach out and help those that may not be so fortunate.” -Attorney Stewart J. Guss

The Law Offices of Stewart J. Guss is pleased to announce that the firm has partnered with Houston shelter Star of Hope to help the homeless stay warm this winter. The firm will be collecting hats, socks, and gloves in drop-off boxes that will be placed in the lobby of their office on Jones Road.

According to the firm, statistics indicate that in excess of 3,614 people are without shelter on any given night. In addition, because of its warmer climate, Houston’s homeless population increases during the winter months. Yet despite the relatively warm temperatures of Houston, the homeless are still exposed to dangerous cold, especially during nights, making it essential that they have access to warm clothing.

The Star of Hope is both a recovery initiative and a homeless shelter that offers various programs and housing options for children, men, and women. Additionally, it also offers mental health programs, teen programs, workforce development, and long-term housing options. The organization is currently seeking the following items:

  • New or gently used hats of all sizes and types
  • New or gently used gloves
  • New socks

Importantly, the shelter has noted that as each person at facility receives a fresh pair of socks every day, there is a constant need for socks. All items that are collected will be given directly to those in need by Star of Hope. To donate, individuals can leave items in drop-off boxes at the following address:
