Beachway Therapy Center Offers 4-Day Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Training Workshop for Clinical Health Practitioners
BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (PRWEB) December 01, 2017 -- Beachway Therapy Center announces a 4-day intensive workshop on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). The workshop will take place on December 8th and 9th, and January 5th and 6th at the center in Boynton Beach, FL. The workshop, entitled “Intervening with Clients Who Experience Emotional and Behavioral Dysregulation,” is an opportunity for professional licensed clinical health practitioners (LMHC, LMFT, LCSW, Psych) to gain a deeper understanding of the theory and application of DBT.
Beachway Therapy Center incorporates DBT as an effective component of the addictions treatment program. DBT was originally developed by psychologist Marsha M. Linehan as a response to the limitations of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT). With its basis in dialectical philosophy, DBT centers on investigating interpersonal and intrapersonal tensions as a means of bringing about personal change. Like CBT, DBT-based therapy offers clients a complete understanding of why they behave the way they do. Contemporary DBT therapy incorporates mindfulness practice to empower clients and help them achieve greater self-awareness through their own healing journey.
The workshop will consist of small group training sessions with a focus on interactivity between participants. It aims to offer participants a deeper understanding of what DBT is and how to incorporate it effectively into their practice.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have a thorough understanding of:
- The outcomes demonstrating the effectiveness of DBT.
- The Biosocial Theory of Borderline Personality Disorder and the concept of Dialectics.
- DBT adaptations for a variety of settings, diagnoses, and populations.
- The four key modes of treatment in DBT.
- Diary Cards and Behavior Chain Analysis.
- The five modules of skills taught to clients and their families.
- How to use DBT commitment strategies with clients.
- The application of mindfulness exercises as a part of DBT therapy
