According to police reports, many motorcycle and bicycle accidents happen because riders do not see the vehicle with which they collide until it’s too late. Fortunately, an inventor from Aurora, Ore., has devised a way to enable cyclists to see traffic approaching from behind much better than with standard side mirrors.

He developed the patent-pending HANDLEBAR CAMERA to improve safety for motorcyclists, bicyclists and operators of other vehicles with handlebars. As such, it provides riders with a clear view to the rear of the side toward which the vehicle is turning. Therefore, it has the potential to reduce the chances of motorcycle accidents, thus preventing injuries and saving lives. This durable, weatherproof and reliable system is also easy to use. In addition, it is convenient, practical and affordably priced.

The inventor’s personal experience inspired the idea. “I have a really hard time seeing in the small mirrors of a motorcycle,” he said, “and realized the mirrors on bicycles, scooters and mopeds all have similar-sized mirrors that do not provide optimum visibility.”

The original design was submitted to the Portland office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
