Access Partner The Last Well Advances Clean Water Initiative in Liberia with Dollar-for-Dollar Matching Grant
SULPHUR SPRINGS, Texas (PRWEB) December 04, 2017 -- Access today announced that a generous matching grant to its charitable partner The Last Well (TLW) is doubling every dollar given up to December 31, 2017. The grant enable TLW to further its mission of providing clean drinking water border-to-border in Liberia by the end of 2020.
“This will be the first time in history that clean water has been provided to an entire nation,” said TLW founder and president Dr. Todd Phillips. “It’s a big goal but with the new matching donation doubling each dollar, even small gifts can make a significant impact in the lives of Liberians.”
In addition to being one of the poorest and most corrupt nations on Earth, Liberia has suffered through two civil wars and several outbreaks of the deadly Ebola virus. Each year, thousands of Liberians die from drinking water contaminated with cholera and other diseases, and a lot more become sick. Many of the nation’s girls are denied an education because they spend hours each day collecting water for their families from sources that are sometimes diseased.
TLW is working hard to fix these problems. Its water projects not only provide safe, clean drinking water but also free young women up to get the education they deserve and create new job opportunities for Liberian contractors who drill and service each well. To date, TLW has reached over 1.5 million Liberians with water and the Gospel through over 2,110 clean water projects. It still has around 800,000 people left to reach in 4,000+ communities by the end of 2020.
The County 4 County Matching Grant Challenge, which aims to give two entire Liberian counties (the equivalent of states in the US) clean water, starts now and runs through the end of this year. So far, it has raised $15,473 of the $273,000 goal. Donate today online at https://thelastwell.org/match/
