Like a force-of-nature, 'Shake Di Bom' takes a battering ram to the world of pop music with its depiction of women fully owning their sexuality to the point their dancing becomes athletic competition.

Scintillating. Naughty. Wild. By the time the verb twerk entered the American lexicon, all hell had already broken loose around the moves inspired by dancehall culture. Maro Music’s “Shake Di Bom” (Addicted To Music) is out now.

Like a force-of-nature, “Shake Di Bom” takes a battering ram to the world of pop music with its depiction of women fully owning their sexuality to the point their dancing becomes athletic competition. The track has anthem potential as it aims to cross-over from the underground dancehall ethos to mainstream society. And though mainstream pop stars like Diplo have incorporated twerking into their glitzy Las Vegas nightclub shows, there’s nothing quite like twerking when performed by a competitive dancer. (A note to those less skilled at the booty-shaking dance moves: If you’re not a boss at twerking, please refrain from attempting it in public. Someone is liable to get hurt.)
