Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters Teams with James-Beard-Award-Winning Chefs in Breakout Culinary Event, Raises More Than $740,000 for Youth at Risk
WICHITA, Kan. and SAUSALITO, Cali. (PRWEB) December 04, 2017 -- Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters (KSBBBS) and event supporter Table Rock Infrastructure Partners announced that this fall’s inaugural event, Big Soiree: Culinary for a Cause Gala has raised more than $740,000. These funds will be used to support and expand KSBBBS mentor programs in Kansas, providing more one-to-one mentors for youths facing adversity.
“We are blessed with our open-hearted community in Wichita, as their support is making a huge difference to supporting the recruitment of more adult mentors to match with the kids on our waiting list,” said Dan Soliday, CEO of Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters. “We are grateful to everyone who donated their time, talents, money and energy to make this event the unbelievable success it turned out to be. The Parisian-themed Big Soiree, held on October 5 at the Scottish Rite Center in Wichita, featured hors d’oeuvres from star Wichita chefs Kevin Derks, Bobby Lane and Josh Rathbun, and an exquisite 4-course meal prepared by some of the most innovative chefs from across the country. Chefs Stephen Giunta and Pete Geoghegan Sr. of Cargill Protein Group, Chef Amy Bandewein of Centolina, Chef and author Elizabeth Faulkner, Chef Kathleen Blake of The Rusty Spoon and Chef Emily Luchetti, Chair Emeritus of the James Beard Foundation, worked in partnership with Wichita’s own star chefs and, in the spirit of mentoring, the culinary students from Butler Community College.
Table Rock Infrastructure Partners is also announcing today that it has chosen Big Brothers Big Sisters as its designated corporate charity.
