The Arouet Foundation Appoints Nonprofit Champion Alison Rapping as Chief Executive Officer
Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) December 04, 2017 -- The Arouet Foundation announced today that it has appointed 25 year nonprofit veteran Alison Rapping as its Chief Executive Officer. Rapping joins to build out Arouet’s programs and increase its reach to help currently- and formerly-incarcerated women gain the personal and professional skills necessary to get a second chance at life through their own growth and that of their families and communities as well.
A nonprofit organization founded in 2011, the Arouet Foundation has proven, through its efforts, that recidivism rates can be significantly lowered by offering programs that take a comprehensive and holistic approach to helping women by emphasizing health, wellness, community, education, professionalism and employment. As such, the Foundation works with women both currently incarcerated and post-release to provide educational opportunities, life-skills training, workplace readiness instruction and career connections. Through its work, Arouet has reduced recidivism rates for program participants from the national average of 68 percent to a mere 6.1 percent. To date, more than 800 women have graduated from Arouet’s programs.
“We are thrilled to have someone with Alison’s experience join the Arouet Foundation. We have important work to do that literally changes people’s lives and Alison’s understanding of working with the community and running nonprofits will be imperative to Arouet’s growth. Our end-goal is to reach more women as they make the important transition from currently incarcerated to formerly incarcerated and we know that Alison is going to help us gain funding, mindshare and greater reach to meet that goal,” said Lynne Oldham, Chairwoman of the Board of the Arouet Foundation’s Board of Directors.
Rapping has an impressive background as a nonprofit and community development executive and will use her skills to grow the Arouet Foundation’s network, build strategic partnerships and collaborations, design new programs, fundraise and spotlight the organization’s contributions to the community. Most recently Rapping was the Principal of Rapping & Associates, a consultancy focused on creating effective and well-resourced nonprofits, NGO’s and community collaborations. Previously, Rapping worked extensively in the nonprofit, philanthropic and community development sectors, including as the Executive Director of Valley Leadership (Phoenix), VisionQuest 20/20 (national) and Co-CEO of the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits. She led Hands on Greater Phoenix (formerly Make A Difference) for 12 years where she grew the agency from start-up to a vibrant community action organization.
“I firmly believe that to make a difference you have to be passionate about your cause and I’m extremely excited to be able to join the Arouet Foundation and further its mission of helping women transform and change not only their lives, but the lives of their families and communities, as they transition out of prison. The energy and enthusiasm that exists within Arouet already is palpable and I am looking forward to using it to propel the organization forward,” said Rapping. “We have an important and rewarding job to do and a real vision of how to build systems that will improve the lives of women, their children and families.”
