National Association of Professional Women Inducts Susan M. Thomas, Project Manager for Accounting at Bass Underwriters, Into VIP Professional Woman of the Year Circle

Self-motivated and results driven to succeed, Susan Thomas is a seasoned professional who has constantly set her goals to keep pace with her highest aspirations for personal excellence. Throughout her career, she has exhibited exemplary teamwork, expertise, integrity and dedication.
“My experience in insurance accounting is approaching 20 years,” said Ms. Thomas. Her skills and expertise include accounting, teamwork development and supervision, auditing, billing, policy implementation and project management. She joined Bass Underwriters in 2010, steadily climbing the corporate ladder, taking on added responsibility with each new leadership role.
Ms. Thomas’ previous positions at the company include Accounting Operations Manager and Policy Retention Supervisor. Recently, she took on the role of Project Manager for Accounting, where she designs and directs specialized accounting projects and activities, recognizes and rectifies deficiencies within procedures for all accounting departments, and creates department specific reporting and dashboards. Always ready and willing to take on additional responsibilities, Ms. Thomas manages a number of independent projects.
“Since moving into my current position, I have been learning how to write VBA code to more efficiently process raw data into usable and easy-to-view reporting,” she said. “I love to learn so this is a great deal of fun for me.”
Prior to joining Bass Underwriters, Ms. Thomas honed her skills and expertise by working at a number of positions in the insurance and accounting fields, including Accounts Payable Supervisor, Acting Controller and Bookkeeper. In addition to her accounting duties, Ms. Thomas also helped create standard operating procedures and took on human resource tasks when needed. A firm believer in the importance of staying up-to-date on industry trends, she has attained industry certifications via the numerous seminars she has attended throughout her career and continues to pursue personal and professional development. “Everything I have accomplished has been either on-the-job learning or research learning,” said Ms. Thomas.
