PITTSBURGH...Inventors from Boone, Colo., have developed the 5TH WHEEL CAPS, a protective plastic covering for over the fifth wheel of a semi-truck with the trailer detached.

"We were inspired to invent this due to personal experience. There were too many experiences where the grease on the fifth wheel of our semi-trailer was washed off because of outdoor elements," said the inventors.

The 5TH WHEEL CAPS keep ice, rainwater and other elements from contacting the greasy metal fifth wheel plate. This item covers and contains the grease. This will, in turn, prevent potentially harmful lubricant runoff from occurring. In addition, it prevents the plate from wearing out prematurely and/or rusting. This will ultimately reduce maintenance time. This practical covering can accommodate all semi-truck fifth wheels.

The original design was submitted to the Arizona office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
