The UAE Government Launches The World Virtual GovHack, the Largest Virtual Government Hackathon Yet
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (PRWEB) December 05, 2017 -- The UAE Government announces The World Virtual GovHack, the biggest global virtual Government hackathon expecting to bring together an estimated one thousand developers, designers and entrepreneurs. Launched on November 19th, 2017, The World Virtual GovHack is accepting submissions through December 30th, 2017; challenging AngelHack’s global network of 130,000 members to solve pressing social and global issues. The worldwide virtual hackathon aims to put top minds from developers, startups and university students at the center of the next wave of industry disruption to help produce innovative solutions that benefit the global community.

“Our first virtual hackathon was a huge success on all fronts, as it attracted more than 850 participants from around the world to explore the potentials of Blockchain as an emerging technology. By inviting participants to challenge the norm on a global scale, we were able to generate 131 great innovative solutions that aim to increase customer happiness and rethink the way governments deliver their services today,” said Mohamed Bintaliah, Assistant Director General for Government Services at The United Arab Emirates Prime Minister’s Office. “This year we are excited to see the participants numbers grow even further as we look forward in creating solutions to some of the pressing challenges facing our global community today,” he added.
Through technologies provided by global partner IBM and their Cloud APIs as well as Blockchain technology software, ConsenSys and their extensive API library, hackers will participate to compete in one of the following areas:
Refugee Resettlement
Clean Water and Food Security
Electricity Access
Economic Security
Government Services Transformation
Through webinars the attendees will get a hands-on experience and an in-depth look at the problems they are addressing. Additionally, through open office hours, attendees will meet with experienced professionals to get feedback on their ideas prior to building them out. Winners will be announced on January 8th and will be judged on execution, impact, creativity, design, scale and innovation.
