Ruchi Dhir Supports the Vulnerable in Leeds with 10 x 10K challenge
LEEDS, U.K. (PRWEB UK) 6 December 2017 -- Business woman, Ruchi Dhir, has a history of giving donations to people and causes in need, with thousands collectively raised for charities across the country, including London’s Air Ambulance.
In her continued effort to support others, Dhir, who previously completed a daring abseil for London’s Air Ambulance, aims to raise £10,000 to help fund the care and treatment of vulnerable people in Leeds.
The 39-year-old is covering the 10K distance in preparation for her 10 x 10K challenge. She will start the challenge at Leeds Christmas Run in December 2017. The money raised will be donated to St Gemma’s Hospice and Yorkshire’s Air Ambulance to support the service to continue to save lives across Yorkshire.
“I’m just grateful I can do it,” said Dhir. “I’m hugely proud of the doctors and paramedics who work tirelessly around the clock to save lives. One of those lives might one day be mine or someone close to me. That is my motivation. I’m encouraging other people to get involved too.”
Fay Richardson, Senior Fundraiser at St Gemmas Hospice, said: “The money raised will directly help us provide specialist palliative and end-of-life care to people in Leeds, which is tailored to our patients wishes. It costs £450 per day to care for one patient, so we can’t thank Ruchi enough for her support.”
But this isn’t the first time this generous woman has given back to charity. Welcoming the support Dhir has given them, Events Manager at London’s Air Ambulance, Lily Smith said: “A massive thank you to Ruchi for her continued support. She took on the abseil with such bravery and determination, raising £1455 for our charity.”
“We rely on donations to treat people who have been critically injured in London. The money she raised helped us in our campaign to secure a second emergency medical helicopter that has become an essential resource. Her fundraising for Yorkshire’s Air Ambulance and St Gemma’s Hospice will be invaluable,” she added.
