Someone’s who’s practiced those operations and safety techniques virtually will be that much more prepared and likely need less real-world training. Companies could see zSpace as a valuable return on investment.

Career and Technology Education (CTE) students around the country will now return from the holiday break to learn with immersive AR/VR experiences from zSpace. Today at the 2017 Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) conference, the Silicon Valley education company announced more than 500 school districts, career and technical centers, medical schools, and universities adopted the all-in-one zSpace platform to prepare students for careers in automotive mechanics, welding, health and medicine, as well as science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

As many K-12 schools, colleges and universities are undergoing a new phase of innovation and transformation with the creation of CTE and STEM programs, zSpace unveiled the latest interactive and immersive learning experiences for health science, manufacturing, transportation and agriculture.

Each all-in-one zSpace computer features the world's only AR/VR stylus, allowing students to interact with virtual objects and understand the science behind them. Unlike other virtual reality solutions, such as head-mounted displays, zSpace enables interaction and group collaboration. Best of all, zSpace empowers students to “learn by doing” in an environment where it is easy to undo mistakes, make changes, and not worry about material costs or clean up.

Now with the following new software partnerships, zSpace for Education is an even more powerful environment for CTE:

  • MIMBUS NG WAVE for hands-on training with welding procedures; MAG, TIG and MMA
  • GTAFE VR Automotive Mechanic for assembly and disassembly within a virtual shop
  • GTAFE VR Automotive Expert for automotive training with a 3D interactive study guide
  • Visible Body Human Anatomy Atlas’ human anatomy general reference
  • Vizitech ECG for the training of electrode placement
  • VIVED Anatomy and VIVED Science for easy, engaging, and interactive dissection, sessions, and quizzing within Health and Animal Sciences

“Manufacturing firms and many industries see amazing possibilities with zSpace and virtual reality,” said Snehal Bhakta, CTE project facilitator for business and marketing and information and media technologies career clusters at Clark County School District. “For example, companies don’t necessarily want someone straight out of high school working on a multi-million dollar piece of equipment. But someone’s who’s practiced those operations and safety techniques virtually will be that much more prepared and likely need less real-world training. Companies could see zSpace as a valuable return on investment.”

“We want our students to come into class everyday excited to perform, excited to learn. We don’t want to keep them in that run-of-the-mill process, especially in career and tech ed,” said Michael Carbenia, CTE director at St. Lucie Public Schools in Florida. “zSpace is a really good way to engage students is a wide range of difficult concepts, from human anatomy to automotive repair. zSpace is one of the reasons our students come to school.”

zSpace’s CTE applications will be featured on the company’s Mobile Classroom Trailer, ACTE Booth #929.
