HMP’s Why Wound Care?™ and Daemen College Announce Partnership
MALVERN, Pa. (PRWEB) December 06, 2017 -- HMP, a leader in healthcare events and education, today announced a partnership with Daemen College, Buffalo, NY, to support its Why Wound Care? initiative, which works to inform nursing students, recent graduates, and nursing faculty about rewarding careers in wound care. Through this partnership, nursing students and faculty members at Daemen College will have access to free educational resources developed by professional wound care nurses.
“We are extremely excited to enter into this partnership with the Why Wound Care? initiative,” said Dr. Cheryl Nosek, chair of Daemen’s Nursing Department. “Effective wound management is critical to promoting optimal patient outcomes, and through this new collaboration we will provide our students and faculty the most up-to-date information to ensure we are implementing the best practices in patient care.”
Daemen College, ranked as one of the “50 Best Value Small Colleges” in the Mid-Atlantic region, offers several RN to BS and Graduate nursing programs for approximately 450 nursing students. Why Wound Care? will partner with Daemen College to increase awareness for nurses dealing with the aging and diabetic population suffering from chronic wounds, pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, and insufficient venous ulcers by providing preventive education.
Selected faculty members at Daemen College will be sharing this forward-thinking opportunity with their nursing students starting in the spring semester. Nursing students and faculty members will then have access to the following evidence-based wound care resources:
• Twelve (12) basic learning module PowerPoints for nursing students beginning a career in wound care
• Four (4) advanced learning module PowerPoints for recent graduates and faculty to advance their knowledge of wound care
• Two (2) interactive online video modules
• Downloadable PDFs of all 25 chapters of Chronic Wound Care: The Essentials, the “gold standard” of wound care textbooks
“This partnership is an important step for the future of wound care,” said Peter Norris, executive vice president of HMP. “With this initial endorsement from Daemen College, we now have the capability to inform, educate, and spread awareness to their students and others about a career in specialized wound care. Through our Why Wound Care? initiative, we look forward to helping educate future caregivers in the goal of reducing the number of patients suffering from chronic wounds.”
