“The Caterpillar Who Was Afraid of the Dark”: the story of how Callie learned to overcome her fear of the dark. “The Caterpillar Who Was Afraid of the Dark” is the creation of published author, Stan Preece, a pediatric dentist in Fort Worth, Texas. He and his wife of thirty-three years, Karen, live with their Chiweenie puppy, Dobbie. They have two grown children, David and Bethany, as well as one son-in-law, Kevin, and a grand-dog, Charlie.
“Callie happily went about her life eating during the day and sleeping at night with the calming glow of the floodlight. One day, however, when she was on the top branch of her tree where the leaves were more tender, she had a feeling that she was soon supposed to cover herself up and go to sleep for a long time. She did not know what that meant. As she was thinking about that feeling, she spotted a fuzzy caterpillar crawling on the branch below her. She was always excited when she saw other ‘callipatters’ in her tree and had tried to meet as many as she could.” --Stan Preece
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Stan Preece’s new book teaches young readers to conquer their fear of the dark.
Callie the Caterpillar is a happy, friendly little bug with a very big problem. Callie is afraid of the dark. Her fear of the dark was never a problem when she lived under a large yard light. After Callie discovers she must spin a cocoon, she embarks on a quest to learn how to conquer her fears. With the help of her two friends, Mrs. Goat and Mouse, Callie learns a bit about courage, a little about what she was created to do, and a lot about friendship.
