Compli Helps Cal Poly Establish Bonded Winery and Enhance Curriculum
PASO ROBLES, Calif. (PRWEB) December 12, 2017 -- Compli is now part of the curriculum at Cal Poly’s Wine and Viticulture Department — preparing students and supporting the California wine industry with hands-on education and internship opportunities in the discipline of beverage alcohol compliance. The Compli staff is working closely with the Cal Poly faculty to create a bonded winery on campus and offer compliance internships to students.
Compli founder and CEO, Rachel Dumas Rey has been highly invested in the project and partnership with Cal Poly. “Cal Poly is helping the wine industry grow by supplying highly qualified graduates to work in California wineries and in companies like Compli, which makes the industry stronger and more competitive globally,” says Dumas Rey.
Dumas Rey and the team at Compli are assisting the Cal Poly’s Wine and Viticulture Department as it prepares to build a bonded winery at the San Luis Obispo campus. With a licensed winery on campus and Compli’s internship program, Cal Poly will be able to provide more Learn by Doing experiences for students, preparing students to directly enter the industry upon graduation. Students will learn how to run a wine business from end to end, including all compliance functions.
The Compli internship offers experience and mentorship to students who are producing and selling Cal Poly wines to provide them expertise in:
- All aspects of production, labeling, and tax reporting compliance
- Comply with regulations, licensing, and tax requirements in California
- Compliance regulations and processes outside of California for sales to wholesalers and DTC channels
