New York Production Community Gathers for Sold-Out “Sight, Sound & Story” Cinematography Year-End Event from Manhattan Edit Workshop
NEW YORK (PRWEB) December 13, 2017 -- Manhattan Edit Workshop, the east coast leader in training for content creators, held its annual “Sight, Sound & Story: The Art of Cinematography” symposium on December 6th at the NYIT Auditorium on Broadway. Three panels featuring award-winning cinematographers discussed their craft, followed by a networking party attended by industry-leading sponsors, filmmakers, and creative production professionals.

The program this year kicked-off with documentary DPs Joan Churchill, ASC (“Shut Up & Sing,” “Aileen”) and Buddy Squires, ASC (“Baseball,” “The Vietnam War”) taking the audience all over the world through visuals of their library of work. Martin Ahlgren (“Daredevil,” House of Cards”) and Igor Martinovic (“The Night Of,” “House of Cards”) talked about how TV has evolved to cinema-level of production. The closing panel featured acclaimed veteran Julio Macat, ASC (“Home Alone,”“Pitch Perfect,” “Wedding Crashers”), going behind the lens and discussing his long and distinguished career. Hugo Perez, David Leitner, and Josh Apter moderated, respectively.
Julio Macat, ASC shared his first experience in the following way, “The Sight, Sound & Story symposium, which discussed the intricate roles between a director, cinematographer and editor in documentary, TV and feature films, was a smart, concentrated exposé on the different facets of the practical filmmaking process. I got to know Josh Apter and his team and found their commitment to further exploring and teaching the art of filmmaking nothing short of admirable.”
Tony Wisniewski, Marketing Manager at ZEISS Cine Lenses, wrapped up the event as, "a fantastic mix of industry veterans and aspiring filmmakers. It was a delight to meet and speak with people so passionate about the art of film and production."
