The fundraiser with the Greater Houston Community Foundation is our way of continuing to give back to the community that is responsible for our success.

Discount Power (Texas), a Houston-based retail electricity provider, today announced that for every new customer that enrolls through any channel between December 13, 2017 – December 31, 2017 the company will donate $5 to the Greater Houston Community Foundation’s Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund. There is no cap on the amount Discount Power will donate. This fundraiser is an extension of an earlier relief initiative launched in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. The company created a matching program through the American Red Cross to assist those affected.

“As we approach the end of 2017, we stop to reflect on recent events that have shaped our city,” said Neville Ravji, Discount Power’s Chief Executive Officer. “Through the hardships brought by Hurricane Harvey, Houston has come together. As a company, we want to launch a positive fundraiser to close out the year and bring relief to those still impacted in the aftermath.”

The company has experienced significant growth and enrollment rates this past year. Discount Power was named the fastest growing private company in Houston for 2017 by the Houston Business Journal.

“The end of the year has always been a time of significant new customer enrollments and we would like to utilize this momentum to contribute to the city’s ongoing recovery,” said Ravji. “The fundraiser with the Greater Houston Community Foundation is our way of continuing to give back to the community that is responsible for our success.”

The Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, set up by Houston’s Mayor Sylvester Turner and Harris County Judge Ed Emmett, provides immediate and long-term relief efforts in Harris County and Houston. To date, the fund has raised over $105 million.

“The Foundation is overwhelmed by the support we have received for the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, and we applaud Discount Power for taking an active role in advocating for this cause,” said Stephanie Blair, Greater Houston Community Foundation’s Senior Philanthropic Services Manager.
