While its common knowledge that in a routine traffic stop, the driver must present vehicle and personal information, that information is not always close at hand. Fortunately, an inventor from Brockton, Mass., has figured out how to remedy that situation.

She developed BOUSSOLE to provide a hands-free way to display a driver's license, vehicle registration card and insurance information at the same time. As such, it eliminates the need to search for these items when stopped by the police. Instead, it allows drivers to keep their hands on the wheel and visible to the officer. Thus, it improves highway safety by reducing the chances of the officer misinterpreting a sudden hand movement. What’s more, it is convenient, effective and affordably priced. This practical invention is also lightweight, durable and easy to use. In addition, its simple design minimizes production costs.

The inventor’s personal concerns inspired the idea. “I wanted to be prepared if I was ever pulled over by the police while driving so I could quickly provide the officer with the information needed,” she said. “I also felt this idea would improve safety for both the officer and the driver.”

The original design was submitted to the Boston office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
