Service Objects Announces Donation to the American Red Cross to Aid Those Affected by the Thomas Fire
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (PRWEB) December 13, 2017 -- Service Objects, a Santa Barbara based provider of real-time global contact validation solutions, announced in the wake of the devastating Thomas fire that they would donate the funds intended for their annual holiday party to the local chapter of the Red Cross and the organization’s efforts to assist those displaced by the fire.
The Red Cross has played a critical role for those who have been most affected. Their emergency shelter at UCSB has welcomed hundreds as the Thomas Fire moves farther into Santa Barbara County. Initially opened on December 5, the UCSB Red Cross emergency shelter housed people from Ventura County during their time of need. Currently the shelter provides beds, blankets, food and fellowship to those temporarily displaced by the fire and serves as a home-away-from-home for adults and children.
One of the largest fires in California’s history, the Thomas fire has burned over 240,000 acres and has forced over 88,000 California residents from their homes. With only 20% containment, the Red Cross evacuation sites will continue to be an invaluable resource for those dislocated by the fire, particularly with the holiday season approaching.
“When looking at the efforts of the Red Cross to assist our community during this difficult time, Service Objects’ staff and their families immediately made the decision to donate the funds for our holiday party to this invaluable cause,” said Geoff Grow, CEO and Founder, Service Objects. “One of core values is to have a happy and healthy workplace, and we are committed to helping others in our community have access to a safe and healthy place to recover from this devastating disaster.”
