Motorcycle riding is already considered to be one of the less safe methods of transportation, as the rider does not have the same protection or visibility as the driver of a vehicle. Another risk of riding a motorcycle is potential burns to the lower right leg after it accidentally comes into contact with the hot exhaust.

An inventor from Clarksville, Tenn., has invented SAVE-A-LEG, an accessory that protects the lower right leg of a motorcycle rider against burns from the hot exhaust system. "My son-in-law is a biker and I got tired of seeing him with burns," said the inventor. "I invented this accessory as a way to prevent unnecessary burns and injuries from occurring."

SAVE-A-LEG intercepts the hot exhaust pipe while riding, providing instant protection for bare skin in the event the rider accidentally touches the exhaust. Additionally, it prevents painful leg burns that may require costly and inconvenient medical treatment and provides peace of mind for the rider knowing leg protection was in place while riding with short pants.

By preventing the distraction of a painful burn, this invention enhances the safety for motorcycle riders while on the road. Because it reduces some of the stress associated with riding, it makes trips more enjoyable and relaxing for motorcyclists. It is lightweight, durable and easy to use.

The original design was submitted to the Nashville office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
