Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) December 15, 2017 -- The Friends of the California State Fair Scholarship Program will award twenty-six scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $2,500 for the 2018 - 2019 academic year.
The program offers 14 categories of scholarships with varying eligibility requirements. Categories include: agriculture, art, business, culinary/hospitality/event management, education and more. Applicants may only for one scholarship category of their choice per year and will be evaluated based on academics, community service, quality of essay and recommendations. Each year, the Friends of the California State Fair Student Scholarships helps students achieve their goals and realize their dreams by granting scholarships to a broad range of academic studies.
“I am so grateful to be considered for the Friends of the California State Fair Scholarship. I believe my scholastic career shows me to be a driven and involved student who has a clear focus of my future and is taking advantage of all opportunities presented in order to prepare myself for a career in the hospitality industry,” said one 2017-18 scholarship recipient.
Top scholarship winners in select categories may be invited to compete for the $5,000 Ironstone Concours Foundation Scholarship. Scholarships are not renewable; however, students may reapply each year as long as they continue to meet the eligibility criteria.
Since 1993, the Friends of the California State Fair Scholarship Program has awarded nearly $50,000 annually to college bound California students. The program is a collaboration between the Friends of the California State Fair, the California Exposition and State Fair, the California State Fair Agricultural Advisory Council, the Ironstone Concours Foundation, Blue Diamond Growers and Western Fairs Association. The application deadline is March 2, 2018.
