“There is a peace now in my life that I never would have had if not for this time. If you still have your mother, give her a big hug, find a nickname for her that only you and her share. Spend as much time with her as you can, knowing that she knows it can’t be all the
time you have. Forgive her those times that you didn’t understand why she did or said what she did or said. Listen for the insight as to why she held you so close or allowed you much freedom. Through this, you will see the love that only a mother is ordained to give, and you too will find the peace in knowing that she always wanted what was best for you.” --James Golden
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, James Golden’s new book is a story about a son who spent nine years taking care of his mother and the bond that was created during that period.
Retired and living in Las Vegas, James learns that his Mama is ill. James had always been in conflict with his mother. He never understood why she was always sending him away from her. He thought that she did not love him as much as she loved his other brothers and sisters. He must decide to either stay in his retirement home or give it up to go back to take care of the mother who never seemed to love him.
The decision, however, is not as hard as he feels it should be. He goes home to New York. The time he spends with his mama will be the most rewarding and well-spent of his life. They will build an unbreakable bond and love. She will answer his questions. He will come to respect her. As he is transformed into a new man, she will pass along her trust in God to him.
