(PRWEB) December 19, 2017 -- “Speak A Little Louder, Please?”: the stories of young students who brought joy and inspiration to a speech therapist. “Speak A Little Louder, Please?” is the creation of published author, Patty Jo Bugh. Patty Jo, a.k.a. Mrs. B, is a retired speech and language pathologist of thirty-one years who currently resides in the Mt. Pleasant, Michigan area. Mrs. B directs a six-week Summer Speech and Language Enrichment Program for Coleman students. God has richly blessed her life with children who continue to give her life purpose, laughter, and joy.
“The nuns at the hospital sensed that this baby girl would not live long and therefore baptized her immediately. Yet God’s loving hand was on this child, and she survived. As her beginning months of life moved ahead, it became apparent that she was slow to sit up, slow to crawl; her arms and legs just didn’t function as they should. The baby soon grew into a little girl who had extreme difficulty walking and often fell. Trips to special clinics and orthopedic doctors became commonplace as her parents sought every possible way to help her. Several surgeries were needed to help correct her knees and tiptoe scissor gait. Some of these treatments worked; some did not. Through it all, however, her speech developed normally. The accident sustained at birth had injured the motor center of her brain. This particular affliction is called cerebral palsy. As you have probably surmised by now, I was that child.” --Patty Jo Bugh
