An Important Announcement from the Global Justice Center
NEW YORK (PRWEB) December 18, 2017 -- The Founder and President of the Global Justice Center, Janet Benshoof, has stepped down from her role as President of the organization. Although planning for this transition has been ongoing for the past year, because Ms. Benshoof has taken an emergency medical leave of absence, we are making a public announcement of the transition at this time. We are fortunate to have the Global Justice Center’s Vice-President and Legal Director, Akila Radhakrishnan, assume the role of acting President during the transition process.
“Although I will no longer be a part of the day-to-day operations, I will carry a torch for global justice and the Global Justice Center forever,” Ms. Benshoof said. “I am very proud of our track record of outstanding successes in international law advocacy, our creative and dedicated staff, passionate Board, and our committed donors and supporters.”
The Board is immensely grateful to Ms. Benshoof for her visionary and dynamic leadership of the Global Justice Center. She has inspired and fought for thousands of women through her advocacy and legal genius. Under Ms. Benshoof’s leadership, the Global Justice Center established itself as an influential international human rights organization committed to achieving equality for women. The Global Justice Center has shaped global norms, assisted women and girls in accessing their rights and ensured justice and accountability for rights violations.
“It is a tall order to replace the extraordinary energy, wisdom, and leadership Janet has provided to the Global Justice Center over the past 12 years,” said Global Justice Center Board Chair Tracy Higgins. “Her creativity and vision will be missed not only by those of us at the Global Justice Center but the entire global legal community working for gender equality and human rights. The accomplishments of the Center are a testament to her ability to imagine a better, more just world and to work tirelessly to make that a reality.”
