Imagine Virtua Partners with Witte Museum to Create Photoreal Augmented Reality Sequences for Tricentennial Exhibit
SAN ANTONIO (PRWEB) December 21, 2017 -- Imagine Virtua partners with Witte Museum to create photoreal augmented reality sequences for Tricentennial exhibit
Imagine Virtua™, the production company behind the highly anticipated Alamo Reality project debuting at the Alamo this March, is announcing a partnership with San Antonio’s Witte Museum to develop photoreal augmented reality sequences for the Witte’s Tricentennial exhibit, 300 Years of San Antonio History: Confluence and Culture which opens on March 3, 2018 and runs through January 6, 2019.
As a central part of the Tricentennial exhibit at the Witte Museum, Imagine Virtua will bring the Witte’s 1836 San Antonio diorama to life with exciting photoreal augmented reality animated sequences that tell the story of San Antonio before, during and after the Battle of the Alamo. It will incorporate the little-known history of how San Antonio’s Tejano and Texian residents reacted to Santa Anna’s march into town. Museum visitors will be able to:
- See the diorama come alive with 360-degree battle sequences that lead up to the final assault, then witness the final assault and the aftermath that changed the history of Texas, Mexico and the United States.
- Watch events take place as six historical figures emerge from the diorama to tell how the army of Santa Anna took the town of San Antonio by surprise and started a panic that saw many locals flee or retreat into the Alamo.
“The Witte Museum is excited to partner with Imagine Virtua to help create an engaging and historically accurate representation on the pivotal Battle of the Alamo,” said Marise McDermott, CEO of the Witte Museum. “Confluence and Culture offers a space for visitors to immerse themselves in the history of San Antonio, and Imagine Virtua is helping the Witte create this important component to telling that story in a visual and interactive way.”
“Working with the Witte to reincarnate their beautiful 1836 San Antonio diorama is a tremendous compliment to the Alamo Reality project we are also launching in March 2018,” said Chipp Walters, Imagine Virtua CEO. “Both bring to life the story of the Alamo with photoreal, museum quality technology and historical accuracy. We’re hoping people will begin their journey at the Witte and then take the short trek to the Alamo where the free Alamo Reality App will offer augmented and virtual reality experiences both on and around the Alamo grounds.”
An Alamo Reality board that incorporates the same technology will be available for purchase at the Witte Museum’s gift shop, allowing patrons to take a piece of Texas history with them wherever they go.
