MaintenX wants Tampa property managers to feel supported during the busy holiday season.

The holiday season is jam-packed with twinkling lights and holiday decor, and travel plans. While these festivities bring many people joy, it’s important for property managers to help tenants arrive safely in the new year. MaintenX International wants to offer local property managers safety and maintenance support during the busy holiday months.

“The holiday season can get hectic, but safety should always be a top priority,” said Bill Schaphorst, MaintenX’s VP of Business Development. “Property managers are key to tenants having a positive experience during the busy winter months.”

MaintenX International has been helping local businesses with property management needs for more than 30 years. The following tips are how you can keep the holidays merry and bright for property managers and tenants alike.

Be Aware of Fire Hazards
Decorative lights, candle flames, and dry trees are all fire hazards that increase during the holidays. Property managers should remind tenants to check holiday lights for broken bulbs or weak wires. Flickering candles can create a beautiful glow, just remember to place them away from flammable materials and never leave a burning candle unattended. Dry trees – both indoors and out – can provide perfect kindling if exposed to a heat source, like a candle or hot radiator.

Take Advantage of Travel
As tenants travel for the holiday season, property managers can use this time to perform basic safety inspections. Examine gas lines, fire sprinklers, and exterior lighting for problems. Check fire extinguisher pressure gauges to ensure they are fully functional. Finally, check fire and carbon monoxide alarm batteries to ensure everyone is alerted if an emergency arises.

Communication is Key
The holidays can be stressful, however clear communication between property managers and tenants can lessen the strain. It is important to share the proper contact information in case of a holiday emergency, rent billing schedule changes due to the holiday, and holiday closures scheduled for any community amenities or office management spaces.

Give Back
The holidays are a perfect time to show your appreciation for your tenants. You can show your gratitude in big or little ways. A bowl of festive treats in the office, seasonal cards, or a small gift are all great ways to show you care.
