Attorney Daniel Gigiano Reviews Opiate Recovery Clinics Changes
Wadsworth, Ohio (PRWEB) January 02, 2018 -- The Ohio legislature wanted opiate recovery clinics to be owned by doctors. Doctors are regulated and, by excluding non-physician owners and requiring physician ownership, the regulations on doctors now apply to opiate recovery clinics.
The Ohio legislature is adding a number of other regulatory conditions for opiate recovery clinics:
- If the clinic administers drugs to treat addiction, it must have a category III terminal distributor of dangerous drugs license.
- Owners and their employees must submit to background checks for criminal records.
- The clinic cannot employ any person who has been convicted of or pled guilty to any federal felony theft or drug offense in Ohio or another state.
- Criminal penalties for failure to comply with the regulations.
These changes have affected numerous Ohio opiate recovery clinics and the businesses that own them. The Ohio Pharmacy Board continues to issue regulations and enforce the provisions of the new law.
