Growing Pharmacy Retailer Focuses On Medication Wellness
TAMPA, Fla. (PRWEB) January 03, 2018 -- Addressing the demand for clinical solutions to supervise overprescribing patients, Benzer Pharmacy announces that it will provide Medical Therapy Management (MTM) to its customers.
Often times patients seeking consultation with multiple doctors are prescribed various medications for different ailments. When combined, these medications have reduced effectiveness and can even cause severe side effects.
In other circumstances, different doctors may prescribe the same medication, leaving the patient with overdoses of their prescriptions. Until now, there was no one to help oversee a patient’s overall health journey.
“Medication Therapy Management (MTM) is a patient-centric approach to bridge the gap between pharmacists and patients. By providing increased access to pharmacists, patients are able to take on a more active role in their wellness journey,” says Alpesh Patel, President of Benzer Pharmacy.
MTM services include pharmacotherapy consultation, progress check-ins, anticoagulation management, health and wellness programs, immunizations and medication therapy reviews, among others.
“Medication Therapy Management (MTM) is a program that helps ensure the patient is adherent with their medications,” states Jazz Harvey, CPhT at Benzer Pharmacy. “At Benzer Pharmacy an MTM Specialist works alongside pharmacists to ensure the systematic process of collecting patient-specific information, assessing medication therapies to identify medication-related problems, developing a prioritized list of medication-related problems, and creating a plan to resolve them,” adds Jazz Harvey, CPhT
Benzer Pharmacy will offer Comprehensive Medication Review (CMR) to all beneficiaries enrolled in the MTM program annually. Beneficiaries may refuse or decline individual services or disenroll themselves from the MTM program upon request.
A CMR as defined by The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), “is a systematic process of collecting patient-specific information, assessing medication therapies to identify medication-related problems, developing a prioritized list of medication-related problems, and creating a plan to resolve them with the patient, caregiver and/or prescriber.”
Benzer Pharmacy provides patients with a sealed medication holder, a blister pack, which is labeled for a 31-day period and divided into morning, noon, evening and night doses. Each pack has a standard pharmacy label with medications already sorted, to increase the convenience of health management.
Pharmacy Technicians at Benzer Pharmacy will also assist in MTM services by identifying patients, collecting information, scheduling CMR appointments, submitting claims, contacting prescribers, and monitoring the progress of MTM services.
“MTM will be able to address the Opioid Crisis in the future,” concludes Alpesh Patel.
