Eureka! Inclusive Files Petition for Public Charter Authorization
San Jose, California (PRWEB) October 20, 2017 -- Eureka! Inclusive Charter School, a proposed charter school where inclusion elevates all, today announced that it has submitted its petition for public charter authorization to the San Jose Unified School District. The submission was made at the 6:00PM October 19th regular session board meeting at 855 Lenzen Avenue. The goal of Eureka! Inclusive is to establish an intentionally inclusive TK-8 public charter school reflective of the cultural, linguistic, social, and neurodiversity in the neighborhoods of the San Jose Unified School District.
“It is obvious in everyday life that an individual may be exceptional in one area and less than exceptional in another. I truly believe an intentionally inclusive and universally designed education will best serve our children in San Jose and Santa Clara County.” said Tiffany Maciel, Founder, Eureka! Inclusive. “This journey over many years would not have been possible without the tremendous amount of support I received from the community in San Jose and across the county.”
In accordance with the Universal Design for Learning framework, the Eureka! Inclusive curriculum will be an integrated curriculum that emphasizes the arts, humanities, and global social studies. Eureka! Inclusive provides excellent academics in an environment that endeavors to nurture a sense of self-worth and intrinsic value in each child. Eureka! aims to connect teaching and learning meaningfully to the outside world thereby strengthening students, the community, families, schools and the larger society. Our students will graduate on-track and ready to take with confidence the next step on their college, career, and life pathway.

About Eureka Inclusive Charter School
We envision that Eureka! Inclusive will serve as an inspirational model to other schools in Santa Clara County, promoting the adoption of inclusive, universally designed, relationship based, and emotionally responsive teaching. The curriculum for Eureka! Inclusive has been designed with the relatively new Universal Design for Learning principles in mind, with the potential to nurture the development and protect the educational rights of all children in San Jose Unified School District. This mission includes children historically marginalized based on race, ability, neurodiversity, or any other characteristic. Eureka! Inclusive has adopted an expanded philosophy of inclusion and diversity, which recognizes that inclusion is not merely about including one group of students, rather it is based on the value that no student should be excluded.
