National Association of Professional Women Announces Catherina Arredia, Global Logistics, International Traffic and Customs, a VIP Professional Woman of the Year
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) March 22, 2017 -- The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Catherine Arredia as a 2017-2018 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in an international business company. NAPW is the nation’s leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasting more than 850,000 members, a thriving eChapter and over 200 operating Local Chapters.
“I’m pleased to welcome Catherine into this exceptional group of professional women,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “Her knowledge and experience in her industry are valuable assets to her company and community.”
International Business had always intrigued Ms. Arredia. With a triple major in Business Administration, Modern Foreign Languages: French and Spanish and International Business, she graduated on time, and relatively debt-free while still maintaining good grades. After working several translation jobs, Ms. Arredia eventually found a home at an international freight forwarder’s ocean department. She worked her way up, handling international shipments. Now she works for Ecolab and is responsible for managing a team of 10 in Chicago and 13 in Houston.
In her role, Ms. Arredia, who received her M.B.A. from Dominican University trains users, ensures third-party vendors are integrating into the transportation management system in a timely fashion, troubleshoots questions and problems and was instrumental in bringing Phase I for a major project in under budget and on time. She also assists with various projects in the company, including acting as a change management agent for the newly introduced transportation management system. For every plan made she must have a backup in place. Problem-solving is a skill necessary for this job, said Ms. Arredia, but one of the most rewarding things is being able to inspire an employee who wants to improve his or her current situation. “The international field is always changing, and being aware of world events is of major importance as it could affect our shipments on any given day due to religious uproar, government disruption and natural disasters/weather,” she added.
Ms. Arredia would like to continue to grow with her company and perhaps move further up on the corporate ladder. She wants to be challenged in whatever she does and help inspire others to discover their full potential.
