The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Silvia Espino as a 2017-2018 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in entrepreneurship. NAPW is the nation’s leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasting more than 850,000 members, a thriving eChapter and over 200 operating Local Chapters.
“I’m pleased to welcome Silvia into this exceptional group of professional women,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “Her knowledge and experience in her industry are valuable assets to her company and community.”
Silvia Espino began her career as an elementary school teacher and was pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology when she was tapped to work for a small hotel chain in Mexico. “After a few months, I found the new job and environment to be fascinating,” she said. Ms. Espino soon decided to focus her studies on Organizational Development and began her career in Human Resources.
Over the last 13 year, Ms. Espino held Human Resources roles in large companies in the US, Mexico and Canada, including Director Human Resources at Zodiac Aerospace and Sr. HR Manager at Honeywell International. She provided these organizations a broad range of HR strategies for achieving business objectives, including talent management, organization effectiveness and employee engagement.
Most recently, Ms. Espino took on the role of National HR Director for National Pharmacy at Kaiser Permanente. “This is an exciting time for me as I pursue one of my dream jobs in the healthcare industry,” she said. She is looking forward to learning about “all things Kaiser and pharmacy” and to partnering with the organization’s executive team to develop a people strategy that will result in a highly engaged workforce.
Ms. Espino is inspired by the hard work and perseverance of her father, an entrepreneur who built up his business from a “very little farm to a large dairy enterprise” in Mexico, as well as the leadership and mentorship of HR VPs she worked with at Honeywell International.
“I am honored to be a part of an incredible organization where I get to do what I enjoy the most: work in human resources and partner with leadership to accomplish the company’s strategic and business objectives,” said Ms. Espino.
