The student leadership organization DECA recently named Vector Marketing its National Advisory Board Partner of the Year. The award is named for longtime DECA friend and supporter Marlene Morbitt-Dunn. DECA presents the award each year to one partner in recognition of the partner’s impact on DECA students, teachers and programs. Vector Marketing received the award April 26 at DECA’s International Career Development Conference in Anaheim, California.

Vector Marketing is the sales and marketing arm of Cutco Cutlery. Vector contracts with tens of thousands of college students annually, who sell millions of dollars of the world’s finest cutlery. DECA officials chose Vector Marketing for the award because of the organization’s contribution to and leadership with DECA. Vector Marketing has been a part of DECA’s National Advisory Board for 11 years. The company partners with DECA on many initiatives, including a mock interview program where students can practice their interviewing skills and develop invaluable professional experience.

Vector Marketing is one of the largest recruiters of college students in the nation, providing a great professional foundation and an opportunity to earn income. “Vector Marketing is an instrumental partner in everything that DECA does, from the classroom to conferences to the operations of our corporate board,” said Paul Wardinski, executive director of DECA.

DECA prepares helps ready leaders for careers in finance, management, hospitality and marketing. Students in the organization are well-prepared for careers and want to hone their skills, said Helen Brown, academic outreach manager for Vector Marketing. Those characteristics make DECA students great partners for Vector Marketing, said Brown.

“DECA students take the skills they learn in the classroom (sales, presentation, teamwork) and put them to use in the real world with us,” said Brown. “We love helping the next generation develop these important skills. We are thrilled and honored to receive this award from such a valued organization.”
