New Crime Novel Pulls Innocent Psychologist Into Mexican Crime Syndicate
PHENIX CITY, Ala. (PRWEB) January 22, 2018 -- Kenneth L. Funderburk drew on 50 years of law experience to produce “The Fish House Gang,” which chronicled a deadly cat-and-mouse chase between a determined group of drug dealers and the police. Once again, Funderburk turns to his professional career to give readers another high-stakes crime story in “Medusa’s Lair: Chic Sparks Novel.”
“Medusa’s Lair” is an action-packed narrative that continues the story started in “The Fish House Gang.” Funderburk explores the life of Chic Sparks—a clinical psychologist and part-time investigator. At his girlfriend’s urges, Sparks begins a reckless search for their missing friend Ken Renfroe—a notorious crime boss.
Unbeknownst to Sparks, his actions place him in the middle of a deep criminal conspiracy that ranges from Boston bankers to the Sinaloa Mexican cartel. He eventually uncovers a money laundering operation and sets out to unveil the truth, locate Renfroe and escape with their lives.
“Medusa’s Lair uses a renaissance type detective, contrary to the modern architype of high-flying crime fighter,” Funderburk said. “I believe this notion challenges the reader to look back on crime as an eternal battle between good and evil. I wanted to analyze the consequences of crimes compared to the benefits it can reap.”
