Dam Short Film Festival Strives to Boost Nevada Tourism with Fourteenth Annual Festival.
BOULDER CITY, Nev. (PRWEB) January 07, 2018 -- The Dam Short Film Festival is expanding in its 14th year as Nevada’s largest film festival. With Hollywood names like Naomi Grossman, Desi Arnez, Jr., and Trevor Zhou attached to the festival’s prior years of success, the Dam Short Film Festival is now able to expand its reach to markets outside of Nevada thanks to a recent tourism grant. The annual Festival draws an international audience, helping to grow tourism in Nevada alongside a platform for independent motion pictures.
“There are big advances for the festival this year. We’re expanding the festival to Sunday, we’re adding virtual reality as a key component, and we are gaining bigger sponsors. The response has been tremendous, such as over 700 entries - our biggest submission year to day,” said Tanya Vece, Media Manager for the Dam Short Film Festival.
The Dam Short Film Festival is held in the historic Boulder Theatre, which was built in 1933 by Fox Theaters and is currently owned by Desi Arnez, Jr. The 2018 categories for the short films are Best Drama, Best Documentary, Best Animation, Best Comedy, Best Sci-Fi/Horror, Best Nevada Filmmaker, Best Student, Best Music Video, Best of the Fest, Final Draft Best Screenplay, and the Leslie Paige Award for Excellence in Short Filmmaking.
“Our film festival is held in the heart of Boulder City, the town that build Hoover Dam. Our festival attendees, filmmakers, and press members get to experience the best of Boulder City, including all the quaint downtown shops, historic hotels, and modern business efforts- such as newer bars and restaurants. It’s like stepping back in time, a truly different adventure that is only fifteen minutes from Las Vegas,” said Tsvetalina Stefanova, Sponsorship Director for the festival.
The 14th Dam Short Film Festival will take place Feb. 8-11th of 2018. DSFF's goal is to seek out original, unusual and entertaining short films from around the world and make them available to the general public. The Dam Short Film Festival is also sponsored by The Homestead at Boulder City and Nevada Public Radio. More information on the festival, and tourism in Boulder City, Nevada can be found on the Festival's official website.
