The collaboration with Spectrum Vision Partners is a pivotal moment in our future growth plan to offer exceptional, affordable eye care to the communities we serve. We look forward to executing our vision of rapid tactical expansion in this region
WESTBURY, N.Y. (PRWEB) January 03, 2018
Spectrum Vision Partners, a leading management services organization serving the ophthalmology sector, has entered into a strategic relationship with Ophthalmic Consultants of Connecticut (“OCC”), a nationally renowned eye care group and New Vision Cataract Center (“NVCC”), a state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery center serving eye surgery needs, to position OCC and NVCC for further expansion in Connecticut.
Founded in 2001 and headquartered in Fairfield, Connecticut, OCC is one of the leading ophthalmology/optometry practices in the United States. It is comprised of 3 highly skilled eye surgeons and 3 renowned optometrists known for their clinical expertise, innovative care and compassionate bedside manner across 4 locations in southern and central Connecticut. OCC’s nationally respected physician group includes a past President of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the editor in chief of two leading ophthalmic publications, Yale ophthalmology faculty, faculty for the glaucoma program for ASCRS, the Chairman of the National Glaucoma Society, and one of Connecticut’s leading cataract surgeons. This group is recognized for innovative medical achievements including the first surgeon to implant the Symphony multifocal IOL in the United States and one of the original U.S. investigators of laser cataract surgery, LASIK and corneal crosslinking. OCC operates a network of 4 modern, state-of-the-art locations across Connecticut. The group offers comprehensive and consultative eye care services, including treatment for cataracts, corneal disease, refractive surgery, glaucoma, and optometry.
NVCC is a modern ambulatory surgery center with 2 ophthalmic operating rooms and a laser suite to perform intricate eye surgeries including laser assisted cataract surgery using the LenSx Laser System. Located in Norwalk, Connecticut, NVCC has been serving Connecticut for over 20 years.
Eric Donnenfeld, MD of OCC and NVCC said, “The collaboration with Spectrum Vision Partners is a pivotal moment in our future growth plan to offer exceptional, affordable eye care to the communities we serve. We look forward to executing our vision of rapid tactical expansion in this region.”
“This marks Spectrum Vision Partners’ first affiliation within a month of our formation as part of our Tri-State strategy. OCC and NVCC have the attributes we seek in our growth platform partnerships; eye doctors and surgeons who provide clinical excellence that are like-minded with a local market leadership position. This is our second major hub, following the addition of Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island and Island Eye Surgicenter in November,” said Tom Burke, CEO of Spectrum Vision Partners.
As part of the transaction, all of OCC’s physician partners will maintain their current roles with the group and will hold significant ownership in Spectrum Vision Partners. OCC will continue to operate as “Ophthalmic Consultants of Connecticut” in its existing market.
