Lee Anne Cooper’s new book “Unplowed Ground” helps adults better work with children suffering from Reactive Attachment Disorder

Parenting a child suffering from Reactive Attachment Disorder, or RAD, can be difficult—often, the disorder goes undetected. Lee Anne Cooper, author and director of King’s Ranch in Arkansas, seeks to change that with her new workbook, “Unplowed Ground.”

The workbook helps would-be adoptive parents work through the difficulties and rewards of raising children with RAD.

"I want to equip adoptive parents with tools that can help soften the hearts of challenging children," Cooper said. "My prayer is that by using these tools, these children will heal and be able to attach to a loving family."

Cooper is the co-founder and director of King’s Ranch, Hope for Children in Need. There, she works with children suffering from RAD. She says these children inspired her to write the book.

“I work with these kids every day. They’re really special children if people can take the time to understand what’s going on in their hearts."
