Peter (Pete) Duffy, a leading industry contributor in the transit and electrification markets, assumed the role of Senior Electrification Engineer at Vanner Inc.. This follows a long career with Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) headquartered in Philadelphia. SEPTA operates one of the largest and most diversified transit fleets, at nearly 2,500 vehicles, with a majority of advanced diesel electric hybrid as the primary motive power force.
Pete had a long and successful 36-year career at SEPTA. While at SEPTA, he developed the technical and commercial requirements for their buses. He was a major contributor in defining efficient, cost effective and sustainable technology for transit buses and worked closely with bus OEM’s and component suppliers. Pete eventually achieved the position of Senior Project Designer. SEPTA is a progressive and successful public transit fleet operator and is a vital part of the region’s economy.
In his new role as Senior Electrification Engineer at Vanner Inc., Pete will be responsible for technical support to Vanner’s Vehicle System Integration Team. His responsibilities will also include technical selling and market development of Vanner’s total accessory electrification, which includes Project Independence. Independence totally electrifies the accessories on clean-diesel, CNG buses and motor coaches.
"I look forward to a great experience as part of the Vanner Team. As a past end user, I was always impressed by Vanner's products from the economy, improved reliability and performance which they provide. However, what has impressed me the most are the people at Vanner. Their commitment to all customers assures a quality outcome for vehicle equipment suppliers, transit fleet operators and their customers," said Pete Duffy.
Vanner is a leader in commercial vehicle power management systems and recently celebrated 40-years in business. Vanner continues to solve operational, fuel efficiency and emission challenges for the bus industry. In November, Vanner unveiled its latest system, named Revolution, at NAPT. ACC Climate Control (Valeo) and Vanner Inc. have partnered to design Revolution’s patented technology that eliminates engine high-idle, reduces fuel consumption, and significantly lowers school bus air-conditioning maintenance costs. Revolution’s greatest pupil benefit is ZERO EMISSION operation in school zones. Vanner’s next emerging technology is Project Independence, which is 100% accessory electrification for transit buses and motor coaches with conventional powertrains. Vanner has an edge with road-tested, rugged, reliable, and safe products that excel to meet the demands of today’s transit and coach fleets.
