WorldLegacy’s NC167 Leadership Team will complete an extreme makeover, in only one weekend, of the Boys & Girls Club – Lucy Ann Boddie Brew Unit’s – computer lab. In less than three days, this project will create a state-of-the-art computer lab including 16 computers, computer tables, chairs, software and networking. In addition, the room will be painted and the floor will be cleaned and buffed. The exterior of the building will get a face-lift including a power washing, a painted entrance and new signage.

This work will be done in excellence and will impact generations of children, their loved ones, our community and world. Children are the future leaders of our world. The intention of this project is to have children realize that they matter, and that there are infinite possibilities available to them for now and for the future. Children get to discover and achieve their dreams and grow into healthy, fulfilled and active participants in their community.

This project is a manifestation of the vision of WorldLegacy’s NC167 Leadership Team. By involving the community in creating an extraordinary computer facility in only one weekend, people will experience freedom, abundance, integrity, peace and love.

This extreme makeover project is the culmination of WorldLegacy’s three-month leadership development program. What makes this project unique is that the WorldLegacy Leadership Team of nine individuals were charged with designing a project from start to finish, in which they cannot use any of their own money or raise money to finance the project, and they need to involve the community to do 75 percent of the work. The project must be complete in three days or less. No matter what the obstacles, failure is not an option!

The WorldLegacy NC167 Leadership Team invites you to partner with them to make this project possible. Take an hour, a day or the entire weekend, and align your efforts with something bigger than yourself. Experience vision, fun, joy and giving by participating in any aspect of the work. This extreme makeover adventure will begin on Friday, January 12th, 2018 at 8:00 a.m. and at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, January 13th and 14th. You can show up at the project at any time during the weekend, or you can call Cindy Kunz at (218) 591-6962 or WorldLegacy at 919-678-6000 for more details.

All renovations will be completed by Sunday afternoon and will culminate with a ribbon cutting ceremony beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 14th. The ceremony will celebrate and honor all donors, volunteers and leaders who gave of their time, talents and resources to make the project a success. WorldLegacy invites the general public, volunteers, and all those who work and volunteer for this incredible organization to the ribbon cutting to take place at the Boys & Girls Club of the Tar River region located at 405 W. Raleigh Blvd, Rocky Mount, NC 27803.

“We are excited that the WorldLegacy NC167 Leadership Team decided to invest in the future of our children at LABB Unit,” said Ron Green, CEO of the Boys and Girls Club of the Tar River Region. “This is something that the club has been anticipating for quite some time. We appreciate them helping us narrow the digital divide.”

“This is the true joy in life, The being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one, the being a force of nature instead of a feverish selfish little clod of ailments and grievances, complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work, the more I live. Life is no brief candle to me; it is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for the moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations.” – George Bernard Shaw
