Commsignia has announced that it has successfully implemented its “Safer on the Road” V2X software stack on the NXP V2X System solution with ECDSA (Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm) cryptography incorporating the RoadLINK V2X chipset and the I.MX 6 applications processor. ECDSA technology offers an excellent balance between chip size, performance and key-handling complexity for application in Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication. It provides greater security with smaller key sizes, enabling optimisation of the chip size, memory and power whilst providing effective cryptographic implementations.
Commsignia, has achieved these important milestones to provide OEM / Tier 1s and Smart mobility projects with a proven and market ready software suite for scalable and secure IEEE802.11p V2X applications with ECDSA encryption. Commsignia’s implementation of its modular V2X software stack on the ECDSA enabled NXP 802.11p chipset, has achieved performance beyond benchmark levels of 1000pps with the possibility to scale beyond 1600 pps verifications per second.
V2X (Car2X) is the next evolutionary step in connected vehicles. It allows the exchange of information between connected vehicles and infrastructure, even in non-line-of-sight situations such as inclement weather and poor lighting conditions. IEEE802.11p V2X technology is the only ADAS sensor that can look around corners. V2X connectivity provides the information to enable safer driving, thereby helping to prevent accidents, reduce congestion and lower emissions through optimized mobility and traffic co-ordination. Whilst driver safety is foremost consideration, data security cannot be ignored, given the rise in wireless communications between cars and infrastructure. As connected vehicles become more advanced and integrated with other devices and systems, the amount of data travelling through the connected eco-system chain is set to increase dramatically.
V2X communication using ECDSA is the next step to reinforcing the security of connected cars.
Commsignia has collaborated with NXP globally on several Automotive OEM, Tier-1 and Smart City projects. These collaborations have led Commsignia to offer its V2X on-board Units (OBU) and Roadside Units (RSU) variants with NXP chipsets.
Commsignia V2X software makes full use of the NXP I.MX 6 applications processors’ security architecture to provide processing performance with proven SCMS and PKI support compatible with US and EU security requirements. Commsignia’s end-to-end V2X software stack offers customers the benefits of tailored integration and rapid time to market, which is critical for customers rolling out NXP based solutions that could hit the road as early as model year 2020. Best in class performance with lowest latency and smallest processor footprint optimizes the required BOM (bill of materials) to implement safety critical connected ADAS functions in tomorrow’s connected driving world.
Jozsef Kovacs, Commsignia CEO said, “I am proud that Commsignia and NXP have worked together to implement our end-to-end V2X software stack on the NXP V2X system solution. The superior performance of our V2X stack leads the market with significant savings in computing resource
Our goal is to ensure that our customers can test and reproduce the performance we are claiming in real-life deployments. Customers can then decide whether to downsize the V2X hardware requirements to either optimize cost or provide more ADAS features on the same platform.
Automotive and smart mobility customers will benefit from secure, reliable V2X connectivity with Commsignia’s products.
“We are glad to work with Commsignia and its innovative V2X software solutions for NXP’s hardware – providing a resource optimized implementation for the scalable NXP platform. We look forward to working the close collaboration between our companies to continue and further develop in the future.” comments Thomas Hinz, Director V2X Marketing and Business Develop at NXP.
