IonField Announces PlasmaKnife Microplate Cleaning System Placement With AstraZeneca
MOORESTOWN, N.J. (PRWEB) January 11, 2018 -- IonField Systems announced the successful completion of the PlasmaKnife Microplate Cleaning System beta test and installation of a commercial release PlasmaKnife for regular use at AstraZeneca’s research facility in the UK.
Paul Hensley, CEO of IonField Systems commented, "We are very pleased that the beta test program validated the expectations both companies had for the PlasmaKnife to clean microplates to like new. Scientists from both companies contributed to developing what is a truly exceptionally performing product. IonField also extends thanks to the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) at the National Institutes of Health. Through its Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, NCATS supported the development of the PlasmaKnife."
Mark Wigglesworth, Director High Throughput Screening at AstraZeneca, said, "AstraZeneca are continually exploring new technologies that will help us improve our scientific processes and outcomes. It’s been great to work with IonField Systems on this project, which will reduce long-term costs as well as plastic waste from our laboratories."
“IonField is a great small business success story for NCATS,” said Lili Portilla, M.P.A., program director for the NCATS SBIR program. “NCATS staff identified a translational problem common in drug development and IonField developed a very elegant solution to clean and reuse these expensive microplates.”
