Silicon Valley Mental Health Startup LARKR Joins reSET’s Nationally Recognized Impact Accelerator Program in Hartford
HARTFORD, Conn. (PRWEB) January 11, 2018 -- Innovative new mental health startup LARKR is excited to announce that it is joining reSET’s nationally recognized Impact Accelerator program in Hartford, which will kick off on Tuesday, January 16.
This four-month, non-dilutive accelerator program helps take young companies to the next level, with particular interest in new businesses looking to change the world. reSET typically focuses exclusively on hyper-local companies, but its leadership was so impressed and excited by LARKR's mission to revolutionize mental health care that they invited the Silicon Valley-based startup to participate in the 2018 accelerator. Since Hartford is known as “the insurance capital of the world,” it is also a valuable location for healthcare companies like LARKR to establish a presence.
Credentialed members of the media are invited to attend the Impact Accelerator’s official launch celebration on Tuesday, January 16 from 5 - 7:30 p.m. at reSET’s headquarters, located at 1429 Park Street, Hartford, CT. The event will include 90-second presentations from all 22 companies participating in the 2018 program, and will bring together reSET’s community of mentors, investors and alumni.
“Both LARKR’s product and leadership team are extremely promising,” said Ojala Naeem, reSET’s Managing Director. “While our Impact Accelerator just received its most competitive applicant pool yet, with over 110 submissions from all over the world, their application really stood out. There’s not only huge demand for the therapy app, but it targets a truly underserved market.”
Led by seasoned entrepreneur Shawn Kernes, who formerly served on the executive teams of StubHub, eBay and other successful startups, LARKR provides on-demand video therapy with licensed professionals through the convenience of an easy-to-use smartphone app. Seeking to close the massive service gap that currently leaves as many as 50 million Americans without needed mental health care, LARKR makes professional therapy available whenever and wherever people need it, from the convenience of their smartphones.
LARKR is the first and only therapy app to work with minors under the age of 18, one of the nation’s most at-risk demographics. It also facilitates multi-user, multi-location conferences for convenient couples or family therapy sessions on-the-go. In addition to therapy, the app offers free mindfulness and self-care features, including mood tracker “My Story” and daily good deed suggestions through “Be The Change.”
“LARKR is very excited to join reSET’s 2018 Impact Accelerator program,” said Kernes, LARKR’s Co-Founder and CEO. “The program’s thought-provoking workshops and powerful network, combined with its passion for changing the world through innovation and entrepreneurship, fit right in with LARKR’s mission. We are anxious to get started and look forward to utilizing the program’s tools and insights to help us reach more and more people in need of LARKR’s on-demand therapy services.”
