Powernet Receives Seventh Pillar Award for Community Service
Cincinnati, Ohio (PRWEB) January 13, 2018 -- Powernet has once again been recognized as an honoree of the Medical Mutual Pillar Award for Community Service. The award was presented to Powernet as one of 11 Greater Cincinnati businesses honored at the Pillar Awards presented by Smart Business on Jan. 10.
Powernet would like to congratulate Graeter’s Ice Cream, Jack Cincinnati Casino, KDM P.O.P. Solutions Group, Klosterman Baking Company, London Computer Systems, MCM CPAs & Advisors, Nehemiah Manufacturing Co., Paycor, Phillips Edison & Company and Queen City Homecare for also receiving the Pillar Award.
The Medical Mutual Pillar Award honors businesses of all types and sizes that make outstanding contributions to their community in an effort to encourage a charitable environment while recognizing creative efforts that make a difference and demonstrate the ties between the for-profit and nonprofit worlds. This year marks the seventh time in eight years that Powernet has received the award.
“Winning the Pillar award is a great honor. Doing so with such consistency speaks volumes about the tremendous effort Powernet puts into making a difference in the community,” says Alli Stevens, Powernet CEO.
Over the last 12 months, Powernet has taken part in making a wide variety of contributions to the community from sponsoring nonprofits such as RESET, American Heart Association and Learning Through Art to volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House. A number of donations were also made throughout the year, the most impactful being those made to bridge the digital divide. Powernet donated tablets to three churches including Church of the Living God, Southern Baptist Church and Miracle Ministries to be used for tutoring and community events. Gabriel’s Place, a local food pantry and community garden, also received tablets. Powernet also continued to provide free community Wi-Fi to Lower Price Hill and Avondale in an effort to help residents access the internet to perform valuable tasks such as job searches and school work.
“Our team works diligently to find positive ways to influence the community,” says Edita Dolan-Mayo, Marketing & Community Affairs Senior Manager at Powernet. “We aim to make technology more accessible by getting it into the hands of those who need it most.”
Powernet understands that making such important contributions to the community is only possible because of its employees.
“Without the hard work and willingness to give back exemplified by our employees, it would not be possible to play as large of a role in the community as we do,” says Stevens. “This award honors every employee’s effort to make Cincinnati a better place.”
