Kathryn F. Edgerton is a key member of the firm’s Regulatory and Transactional practices. While she has built a significant practice advising a variety of healthcare providers and organizations – including hospitals, physician organizations, and behavioral health and telemedicine providers – regarding the complex transactional and regulatory issues impacting the healthcare industry, Ms. Edgerton is also known for her pragmatic guidance on a broad range of operational issues. “As counsel to over 60 addiction treatment providers, I’m often asked for guidance that not only addresses legal issues but also provides my clients with a practical approach to their day-to-day operational issues,” Ms. Edgerton stated. “It’s very rewarding to know that I can help my clients comply with the law while also supporting their business interests.” Ms. Edgerton also regularly advises clients on privacy and security laws and regulations, both at the state and federal level.
While Sara Hersh has substantial experience representing a range of healthcare professionals, she now primarily focuses on her role as dedicated counsel to medical staffs of community hospitals, medical groups, heath care systems, university systems and county facilities. In this role, Ms. Hersh advises medical staffs on a broad range of issues including mandatory reporting requirements, peer review processes, medical staff bylaws, physician well-being committees, corrective actions and processes for discipline, hearings and appeals. Ms. Hersh also defends individual practitioners before licensing boards, and has successfully represented physicians, nurses, pharmacists, psychologists and other healthcare professionals in investigations and administrative hearings. “Medical staffs are responsible for maintaining the highest levels of care while also navigating an increasing number of complicated regulations,” stated Ms. Hersh. “I often am asked for guidance that allows my clients to both meet their legal obligations while also supporting talented medical practitioners who often work under enormous stress.
