Turner to Modernize Delta Operations at Terminal 2 at Fort Lauderdale International Airport
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (PRWEB) January 16, 2018 -- Turner Construction Company is pleased to announce that the firm has been selected to manage a $100 million modernization of Delta’s Terminal 2 operations at Fort Lauderdale International Airport, including updates to security screening facilities, passenger concession areas, utilities, finishes, and more.
“We’re looking forward to working with Delta and the airport to realize their vision and transform the passenger experience throughout Terminal 2,” said Margaret Simone, the Turner Project Executive leading the job. “Planned updates to front-of-house security areas and gate hold rooms, enhanced amenities such as a new Delta Sky Club, and updated finishes will make a big difference when it comes to the comfort and convenience of the nearly 30 million travelers who pass through the hub of Fort Lauderdale every year.”
In addition to relocation and expansion of the Terminal’s security screening checkpoint, updated concession concourses and support areas, renovated restrooms, and utility updates, the project also includes renovations to ramp aprons and other exterior improvements.
“The entire terminal will remain active during this project so thoughtful phasing plans and communication will be essential,” added Margaret. “We will touch every area of the terminal, and passenger safety and minimizing disruptions to airport operations will be top priorities.”
The project is the latest addition to Turner’s aviation portfolio in South Florida, where the firm also has work underway at Terminal 4, and the recently completed Sheltair Hangar Complex Phase II located on the west side of the airport property.
