UNITS® Moving and Portable Storage, a Charleston, South Carolina-based, national moving and portable storage franchise, is celebrating a remarkable year of growth, development and prosperity in 2017. The franchise, known for its portable white storage containers, now operates in 12 states with more than 6,000 of its storage containers in service, helping thousands of customers in more than 500 cities.

NEW HIRING AND NEW CALL CENTER

Expansion began in the corporate headquarters as UNITS Moving and Portable Storage added several positions in upper management to advance the brand while boosting support for franchise owners. The company beefed up its franchise sales team to handle increased interest from franchise candidates while adding a call center to help customers maneuver long-distance moves.

Expansion of the National Footprint

The stronger corporate team helped grow the company’s national footprint, adding UNITS Moving and Portable Storage franchises in San Diego, San Antonio, Orlando and Miami. In the first quarter of 2018, the company plans to add new locations in Denver, Dallas, Seattle and Boston.

“It’s not just the domestic market either, we are starting to see opportunities for international growth, “said Brad Smith, UNITS Moving and Portable Storage Vice President of Franchise Development. “Along with locations throughout North America, cities in Europe and Australia are under serious consideration for 2018.”

TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCES

One of the most important areas of growth for UNITS Moving and Portable Storage in 2017 were the technological advances the company implemented to stay ahead of competitors.

Developing proprietary software, "Units Biz Hub," a portal that assists franchise owners in managing their business. The system includes real-time delivery truck monitoring, customer relationship management software, online consumer review management and social media management tools so owners can organically market their business.

Pumping new life into the “Long Distance Move Program” with investments in new technology, staff and UNITS brand containers. The company plans on adding another 100 containers to the program in 2018.

Redesigning the state-of-the-art UNITS Brand Container, enhancing the roof and side walls, allowing belongings to be more secure and safe in transit and while in storage. The company offers high-quality constructed containers featuring a translucent top allowing for natural light to enter the space. The container is clean, weather-resistant, spacious and available in 12-ft. and 16-ft. lengths.

Redesigning the proprietary ROBO-UNIT, a high-tech robotic container transport that eliminates any shift in container contents and provides greater flexibility in placement when space is an issue. That means they can put a storage unit in places other companies can’t reach.

Increasing Google search engine rankings to surpass key competitors thanks to a concerted effort by the online marketing team to produce more SEO rich content on the company’s digital properties.
